The Red Piano

Elton John is a show-business legend.  I've always been a fan of Billy Joel, but I never really had an interest in EJ.  Who can blame me?  The guy is a little weird (and a whole lot gay).  Of course, I've heard Crocodile Rock and Rocket Man a thousand times....but those songs weren't going to make me run out a buy his records.  It wasn't until I saw Elton John on TV in a prime time concert on NBC that made me a fan!  The extravagance of his act caught my attention and I immediately enjoyed some of his older hit songs (that many of us have never heard).

I looked online for Elton's concert schedule and realized that it was darn near impossible to find him performing anywhere near our home.  Getting creative, I thought it would be fun to package his show with a trip to Vegas.  Why not?  Flights to Las Vegas were extremely cheap.  I found a great deal at Caesar's Palace for 4-nights.  Elton John was performing in the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace.  It looked like a super way to spend the Easter weekend.

The only thing that wasn't "super" was the cost of Elton John's concert tickets.  The only place I could scoop up tickets was Ticketmaster.  And, let me tell you, I didn't think I would EVER pay to see someone for what we paid to see this Red Piano concert.  Well....maybe if Elvis was still around!  Was it worth it?  I would actually pay to see it again!  I loved it.

Jenesa and I got all dressed up and headed down to the Colosseum from our Caesar Palace "suite".  From the seating chart on Ticketmaster, I was planning to sit right behind the lower Orchestra section of the room.  It was quite a surprise to both of us when we were "escorted" to a small balcony section off the main stage.  We had awesome seats!

At this point in his career, Elton John is a bit pudgy and no longer jumps around the stage like he did in his wild, younger days.  His wardrobe consists of a very conservative suit, rather than the Lady Gaga-type outfits he once adorned in his heyday.  Needless to say, he sounded great and the visual effects behind him complemented each and every song.
