The
last time we were in Vegas...we missed the Freemont Street Experience.
So we put it at the top of our list this time! Believe me, there is so
much to do in Vegas, it takes a few trips to get it all done! We were
soooooo poor on our first visit that we spent most of the trip finding
all the free attractions. And, there are so many cool (free!) things
to see and do!
1. Fountains at the Bellagio 6. The Sirens of Treasure Island
2. Fall of Atlantis @ Caesar's Palace 7. Streetmosphere of the Venetian
3. Lion Habitat @ MGM Grand 8. Volcano at the Mirage
4. Show in the Sky @ Rio 9. Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo
5. M&M's World 10. Stratosphere (ride to top!)
This
trip we planned to hit some of things we missed, and venture outside
city limits on a Harley. So we took off one night and headed to
Freemont Street. The light show "experience" happens every night from
8:30 to midnight.....and it's FREE! Needless to say, it was worth the
trip! The Viva Vision canopy towers 90 feet above the street and spans
the length of five football fields. Over 12 million LED light modules
and a 550,000 watt sound system are featured in the light show. It was
awesome!
Only In Vegas!
Only in Las Vegas will my wife agree to go to Hooters! I had to twist her arm a little, but I got her inside the casino and it was a-boob-solutely great (at least i thought so!). I introduced Jenesa to the fa-boob-ulous Hooter chicken wings....which tasted great after walking around Vegas for the past few hours! Our waitress took the time to sit down with us and "chat"......which i thought was going to ruin Jenesa's mood......but afterwards she actually agreed to go back again! Hooter-ific!
The Valley of Fire (and a Harley)!
This was absolutely one of the coolest things we did in Las Vegas on this trip. We decided to rent a bike and cruise to the Valley of Fire. The Valley of Fire derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs, 150 million years ago. Complex uplifting and faulting of the region, followed by extensive erosion, have created the present landscape. Wowzers!!! It was absolutely amazing to see the RED landscape appear out of nowhere in the middle of the desert. You gotta see it to believe it! Check out our Valley of Fire Page.
The Rocket Man!
The whole purpose of this trip was to see Elton John in concert. A few month's ago I saw his concert on TV, and ever since then I have been downloading his music and planning to get tickets to a show. What better way to see a show than to fly to Vegas, baby! Elton was booked through April this year at Caesar's Palace performing The Red Piano. Check out our Rocket Man experience on our Red Piano Page.
We
managed to find inexpensive airfare and splurged for concert tickets. I
also budgeted to eat at a casino buffet everyday (hey...i love to
eat!). And, we planned to rent a Harley one day and ride out into the
desert to check out the Valley of Fire. What I didn't "splurge" on was
our room at Caesar's Palace. I originally booked a cheap room in the
casino (opposite the Strip) with no luxuries whatsoever. My plan was
try the old $20 trick at the front desk when we checked in. Slip the
person at the check-in desk a nice little tip with your credit card and
ask for a "complimentary" upgrade! Believe it or not....we were
upgraded to a VERY nice suite overlooking the Strip. Who knew it would
work?
Easter In Vegas!
The old phrase, "been there done that!" doesn't quite ring
true when you talk about Vegas. Even if you hate to gamble, there's
sooooooo much other stuff to do! We did Las Vegas six years ago and
badly wanted to come back! And, we're glad we did! Looking out from
our suite at Caesar's Palace, we couldn't help but notice the new
casinos, shops, and major renovations that were along the Strip!
Unfortunately, we are only staying for 4 nights over the Easter
holiday. But that still gives us plenty of time to accomplish some of
the things we missed out on during our last Vegas stay. Let the party
begin!
